Reflecting on the Spring Semester Hello, CSU Musicologists! We hope you have had a happy, healthy Spring Semester. As Spring break approaches, we want to take this opportunity to connect with our club members, and reflect on our semester together thus far. Presentations We have been fortunate enough to host several virtual club meetings, with presentations from: Michaela Allen (MM student) “The Piano Showroom Reimagined: Virtual Museums of Art”; Dr. Marianna Ritchey (University of Massachusetts); "Labor, Capitalism, and Music”; and Dr. Lakshmi Sreeram, "Improvisation in Indian Classical Music”. Upcoming meetings: Tonight, at 7pm MST, CSU’s very own Dr. Dan Obluda will be presenting on his recent dissertation topic "From Pastoralism to Protagonism: Associations of the F Transformation in Film”. Title TBA. Undergraduate CSU Music Education and Composition student Jake Elam will be presenting on Wednesday April 28th at 7pm: "Tin Pan Alley Music" Your experience matters most to us. If you'd like to present at any of our club meetings, please feel free to email us to book a presentation slot. Presentations are not limited to School of Music, Theatre, and Dance students. We welcome everyone from all disciplines who is interested in musicology and/or learning more about musicology. Additionally, if you have any ideas or suggestions, let us know! We are always open to new suggestions for club meetings. Rocky Mountain Music Scholars 2021 Conference Two CSU professors and one undergraduate student will be presenting at the Rocky Mountain Music Scholars conference this weekend. This is a fantastic opportunity: we wish you all the best of luck in your presentations! Annie Koppes will be presenting for the American Musicological Society (AMS) chapter on Saturday the 10th of April. She is presenting on the panel for music and social justice: “An Intersectional Analysis of Woman Composers and Labor”. The College of Liberal Arts wrote an article about her paper, which includes wonderful comments from Dr John Pippen.
